Learn To Worship In Spirit And In Truth

The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. – John 4:19-24

Do you know that you are a spirit being living in a physical body? The real you exist to give glory, honor, and praise to the Heavenly Father God; which is our daily sacrifice. Jesus tells us that worship is to be wholly spiritual, because now we have His sacrifice in which to trust. The Lord’s blood gave us access to the holy place; where the God’s presence dwells. Romans 5:2 states, “By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” You and I have confidence in our spiritual relationship that our spirits are communing  with Him. Ephesians 3:12 expresses this clearly by saying, “In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.” Just like the old testament temple worship was external and you needed to do things acceptably in order to enter the holy of holies, now you must do the same except for being a living temple of God. Your physical body dwells your spirit, and God comes to worship with you internally, according to John 4:23.

How can you worship God acceptably? You can only express genuine (real) worship from your spirit, according to John 4:24 and you “must worship him in spirit and in truth.” To acceptably respect God, your outward expression must match your inward attitude of the heart. You cannot accomplish this without a good relationship, just as a good parent has with their child. In return, their child will honor them for the rest of their lives. This sounds like truth fellowship; spending time with each other with love. The Heavenly Father God is always please with you seek Him out each day as His child.

I would encourage you to learn this simple fact by practicing it in your daily walk with the Lord Jesus. God is a spirit and those who worship Him must from their spirit with the highest level of integrity.
