How Great Thou Art has been hailed as the American’s Hymn from the Billy Graham’s Crusade. It was written as a poem called ‘O Store Gud’ in 1885 by Carl G. Boberg (1859-1940) The music was composed by Stuart K. Hine (1899-1989) in the early 1920’s. Several years later, Boberg attended a meeting and was surprised to hear his poem being sung to the tune of an old Swedish melody. Later, Mr. Hine wrote original English words and made his own arrangement of the Swedish melody, which became popular and is now known as the hymn, How Great Thou Art.
