“If Socrates would enter the room we should rise and do him honor. But if Jesus Christ came into the room we should fall down on our knees and worship Him.” – Napoleon Bonaparte
What do you have to say about the quote from Napoleon Bonaparte?
Do you think He is right?
I personally believe that we should give honor to whom honor is due. We have missed this simple fact called “Respect.”
What does this word mean? A feeling or attitude of admiration and deference toward somebody or something; esteem more highly, or have consideration.
In our society today, can you say that this is shown, especially for our Creator, God?
Where have we missed it? The scriptures tell us in Deuteronomy 6:7, which states, “And you shall teach them [the Word of the Lord] diligently to your sons [and daughters] and shall talk of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.”
Is this the place where we missed it? We have not been telling our children about the Creator, and share our history with them in every area of life. The lack of righteousness or knowing God has caused us to loss respect for each other. No wonder why this is not respected in this world.
We honor everything, but God. Can this be changed? The answer is Yes!
A.W. Tozer explained this to adults of his time:
“One of our greatest tasks is to demonstrate to the young people of this generation that there is nothing stupid about righteousness.”
This is very sad to me, but I believe that there are many of us who believe there’s a God, will take a stand for righteousness sake, and teach our children about the Lord. So, they will love, honor, and respect themselves and others!
And there will never be a problem in honoring the Lord when He shows up in your room, or even your congregation!
Watch this praise song by Aaron Keys called “Blessing and Honor”:
Until next time, continue to be blessed and Praise the Lord!
