Study: Tehillah, Singing God Praises

Give me a ‘HOLLA’ at: ilovepraiseandworship.wordpress.com by “Leave A Reply” (your comment) below. I’m looking forward to reading your praise report.

“My [Jesus] yokes are easy, and my burden is light (Matthew 11:30). Just praise me and I will deliver you. Trust me today!”

I have a song in my heart and a rhythm in my steps. Praise in my mouth that tell of the goodness of God.

I will lift my hands. I will sing praises to You, my Lord. Glory, Glory, Glory!

Glory and Honor is due to God today!

Heavenly Father, thank you for letting us see You in our praise. You dwell and set up residence in our praise. It pleases You that we show forth honor, and we are blessed because of it. As we praise You, our vision is improving, and our mind is being renewed in your Word and will for our life. We hear You better, and our relationship is growing beyond measure. Lord, thanks for your Word, and your command found in John 4:24 and putting that knowledge in to practice for our life. In Jesus Name. Amen.

Did you have fun halaling God yesterday? Did you do something that you have never done before? Yadah, Todah, or Halal your Creator. Let’s praise our Lord, right now –

Lord, You are the author and the finisher of my faith

Thank You Lord for the daily intercession on my behalf

Thank You Lord for supplying all of my needs

Because of You, Lord, I am moving and have all of my being. I’m healed by the stripes of Jesus

Father, I thank You for who You are in my life – the Great I Am!

Hallelujah!

You are Almighty God; invincible

There is no one like my Lord. I am fully convinced that He is the way, the truth, and the light.

Wasn’t that exciting, and powerful! Did you get charged-up for victory? The Lord is good, and He loves you. It is His pleasure to bless you, when you praise Him. You WIN in this life! Every battle, you WIN in Jesus Name! The battle is not yours, but it is the Lord’s (2 Chronicles 20:15b)!

If you cannot get enthusiastic about that, you need a little more understanding on praise. Well, I have a new Hebrew word for you to learn. It is called Tehillah.

Tehillah means “the singing of halals, to sing or to laud; perceived to involve music, especially singing; hymns of the Spirit.”

The word tehillah is derived from the word “halal”; which means “to be clear, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.”

You can sing unto the Lord. A song that some wrote or a new song from your heart – singing in tongues; singing in the spirit.

God doesn’t care if you can sing or not. He knows already. He gave you your voice. What He cares about is your motive and attitude in your praise. So, sing unto the Lord! He is not hard of hearing. He loves your praise.

After reading the following scriptures, play some of your favorite music – songs of praise and worship – to get you started:

Psalms 22:3

“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.”

Psalms 33:1

“Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.”

Psalms 147:1-2

“Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely. The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.”

1 Chronicles 16:35

“And say ye, Save us, O God of our salvation, and gather us together, and deliver us from the heathen, that we may give thanks to thy holy name, and glory in thy praise.”

In Your study time, here are some more scriptures to check out: 2 Chronicles 20:22, Deuteronomy 10:21, Exodus 15:11, and Isaiah 61:3

Sing unto the Lord a new song!

Sing unto the Lord all the earth!
