Halal
Do you know the meaning of that word? This is another word for praise in the Hebrew language.
Halal means “to be clear, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish.” In short, this word means to praise the Lord.
The word “Hallelujah” comes from this base word, and is a primary root word for praise in the Hebrew language. Let’s read Psalms 113:1-3:
1 “Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
2 Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.
3 From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’s name is to be praised.”
It is very clear in these verses that you must boast, celebrate, and sometimes to be clamorously foolish in the Lord. Declare and proclaim God’s goodness to the world.
Hallelujah!
Praise the Lord. You His servants, praise the Lord!
If you are in public, praise Him! If you are in private, praise Him! If it’s morning, praise Him! If it’s noon, praise Him! If it’s evening, praise Him!
Continually – All the Time – Without Ceasing, Praise the Lord!!
Let’s read Psalms 150:
“1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”
Hallelujah!
Try to Halal God right where you are! Do something that you have never done before in your worship. If you never Todah, then do it now. If you never Halal, then do it now. Whatever that is, God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Please come out of your box – and just praise Him!
Here are some excellent examples of Halal for your understanding, and a model for you to follow after:
Dance like King David (2 Samuel 6:12-16)
Sing and dance like Miriam, the prophetess (Exodus 15:11-21)
Sing, like Deborah and Barak after defeating the Canaanites (Judges 5)
Sing a song of praise, like Paul & Silas in prison (Acts 16:19-34)
Hallelujah, an exclamatory expression of praise or adoration (Psalms 106:1; 111:1; 112:1; 113:1; 117:1; 135:1)
Shouting, in joy & praise (1 Chronicles 15:28; 2 Chronicles 15:12-14; Ezra 3:11-13; Psalm 5:11)
Sacrifices, of praise. “Calves of the Lips” signifying praise (Hosea 14:2)
We were created to praise! And it is due to God everyday!
Study and learn about praise and worship. Learn what God likes and does not like in your form of praise and worship. This is why “I Love Praise and Worship” blog was created.
In church services, we are to be participators, and not spectators. Praising God! Please do not minimize this act of worship. Learning about praise can change your life!
