Let me give you a quick definition: praise is giving honor in verbal or physical expression to someone or something.
Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes praise in two forms:
- A verb (verb is a word that is grammatical center of a predicate and expresses an act—action or inactivity of a person, place, or thing) transitive form: praised; praising 1: to express approval of: commend. 2: to glorify (a divinity or a saint) especially in song. intransitive form: to express praise
- A noun (noun is a word that is the subject of discourse—person, place, or thing) Form: praise; praiser 1: to expression of thanks 2: [an act of] worship
ilovepraiseandworship.net want to give you another definition about praise and that is:
Praise in the act of worship is meant to admire, commend, extol, honor, worship, and glory given to a superior being; in which all Christians call him God, or a saint; a person who met certain quantifications as the standard’s by man; in which is found in the Roman Catholic church. In scripture (the Holy Bible), the word is used at random to refer to renown, fame, or glory given to idols, material things, or to the true God.
God has created every living being on this planet to praise (Psalm 150). It is His pleasure to see those who are created in His image doing what He has created us for – to praise, especially Him (Psalm 22:3)! God is good and worthy of our praise personally (Hebrews 13:15; John 4:24).
I hope you are wanting to praise the living God right now. For He is good and His mercy endures forever and forever. Do you agree?
